Valley of Kings
You will be met at Luxor Airport with a Driver and expert English speaking Tour Guide for your tour, starting at Luxor’s famous West Bank, where 64 ancient Egyptian rulers lie buried in the Valley of the Kings including the burial chamber of Tutankhamen & Ramses the Sixth. Stop for a photo of the Colossi of Memnon; these two giant seated figures of Amenhotep III once guarded his mortuary temple. Continue to the temple of Queen Hatshepsut, one of the rare female Pharaohs. In the nearby Valley of the Kings, where kings planned to meet their Gods in the afterlife. One of the most famous archeological sites in the world and burial place of Tutankhamen whose mummified remains are still here on display.
Karnak Temples & Luxor temple
After exploring the West bank you will have lunch at local Nile restaurant before visiting the colossal Temple of Karnak. Walk along the Avenue of Sphinx to enter the complex as your guide explains how the massive facade was constructed. On entering the Temples of Karnak you will see each legacy left by the various Pharaohs and dating back over 3000 years.
Walking through the Great Court into the Great Hypostyle Hall, it’s hard not to be overwhelmed by the 134 columns towering above you like an ancient forest. At the rear of the complex you will find the sacred lake where centuries ago pharaohs and their offerings to the gods were purified. After a tour of the complex, you will have additional free time to explore at leisure.
Continue to Luxor Temple which unearthed by Mariette in the 1860 and was once joined to the Temples of Karnak by a two-kilometer long Avenue of Sphinx.
A pure Egyptian temple, the inner walls and columns are decorated with intricate hieroglyphics which your guide will help you decipher.
